Even though we are called The Gait Center-- we really treat orthopedic problems from head to toe! We stand behind these 3 principles when treating orthopedic or musculoskeletal problems that set us apart from traditional physical therapy.
1. The BIG PICTURE is everything. Whether you come in for an ankle sprain, after a hip surgery, or to heal from a spine injury-- our physical therapists will evaluate that region as a link in a larger Kinetic Chain and customize a plan to treat your body as a Whole. After all, your knee bone is connected to the thigh bone, as the song goes...
2. The coordination between your musculoskeletal system and your nervous system is paramount in your recovery. Under our physical therapists’ guidance you’ll be educated on your condition and taught how to feel or sense optimal movement patterns versus less desirable habits. We focus heavily on this connection and believe that it truly empowers you to gain motor and mental control of your problem.
3. We fully believe Physical Therapy should be PHYSICAL! Meaning your clinician has expertise coursing through his/her hands. Our skilled clinicians thoughtfully apply manual treatments to heal tissue and cue correct movement patterns which guides you on the path of recovery. This seems like a moot point, but before our team members and our clients found The Gait Center we’ve had the unfortunate experience of “cookie cutter” PT that was more like a hands-off gym routine. We promise your time is just as valuable to us as it is to you. Your experience at The Gait Center will be anything but “cookie cutter”! Additionally, each of our therapists bring unique skill sets and we love to borrow each other’s expertise in collaboration during your sessions. If your problem should require dry needling, strength & conditioning, bracing/taping, gait training, emphasis on manual treatment, etc-- we’ve got you covered!
